Christine made the 2 1/2 hour trek up from Galloway this morning and arrived mid morning, she insisted that we should take a walk and see some new horizons. The sensation of walking, taking myself from A to B via C, felt like a new experience although perhaps more of a shuffle than a walk. The Friends of the Beatson brought us two delicious coffees on a tray, frothy with chocolate on top, which I tentatively tried along with half a kit-kat. It is first time I’ve had either for over a month. They went down surprisingly well. We sat by a window overlooking some gardens and views of snow on the distant Ochil Hills. It made for a very pleasant change from the claustrophobia of my room back away down the corridor. It also meant I did not need a sleep until 3 pm.!
The night before had been uneventful, as was early this morning, thankfully no nausea and no temperature. We just need a couple more days without spikes of temp. and they might start to reconsider a discharge date for me. I feel ready for a change. The place is beginning to weigh heavily on me. Three weeks now since Transplant and oh boy are the days beginning to tick by slowly.

And I just want to say a big thanks to all for the lovely get-well cards.

  1. Hi handsome, (Earl Brown lookalike).... 0+tive suits you!
What does Christine think of your dapper new image? Glad she's encouraging you to venture out of your hutch.
Keep chin up. Looking forward to seeing you both back home. (even if we have to mime through a window, to keep u bug free!)

Will save yoghurt pots and string to aid communication!

Wishing you a spike free, event free few nights ahead.
I know you probably feel like you're a list of symptoms and charts in prison, but when you weren't well, these numbers and charts were paramount, and you weren't hankering for home - just better numbers.....
so you must be feeling much more like yourself to have achieved this feeling of clock watching boredom. (Welcome back commander!)

Once home u will have to get up and about PDQ (wouldn't wish daytime tv on anyone!!!) Have served a 6 month sentence on the couch, and would absolutely not recommend it!!
There are lots of very wierd programs on, with freaky people, with incredible personal circumstances. (eyes too close together, family members too close together etc)
big body swerve recommended! Scary stuff.

I'm sure you're much too sensible to be watching American daytime family public assasination programs :)

So instead, you could start reversing your planning list for coming home now (like the list you were mentally preparing for coming into hospital).
You have to read all the books, play all the games, listen to all the music, deal with all the mail, etc that you brought in with you, before you go home!!!! :)
    lol vj and family XXXX

  3. I'm Amy from Oklahoma and I have no idea if this comment thing will actually work. :p

I heard about you from some family-in-law.

I just wanted to remind you that there are people around the world wishing well for you. I'm so glad you're doing better and I do hope the fever spikes are gone for good.

Les infantes are a conquering force, hm? and restoring. I'm just not sure why their hair's that way nor why they're riding carrots, but that's ok. :)

I hope you continue to do well and are able to go home soon. As do many others around the globe. Maybe this is why the babies raise their fists: Here's to your health! :)

  6. Look at you, handsome even bald and recovering from hell. Not all of us could pull that off. :D

Hopefully, you'll be home soon enough, and I think johnstonvanessa is smart to recommend planning for your entertainment ahead of time so you aren't stuck with horrible daytime TV.
